Talking Heads

Initially starting as "The Artistics" 1974

3 Students at the Rhode Island School of Design, Byrne, Weymouth and Frantz teamed up to form a band initially called "The Artistics". Less than a year later and with the addition of a 4th member they had evolved into the group "Talking Heads" the name having been picked out of a TV Guide. The term used by TV studios to describe a head-and-shoulder shot of a person talking as 'all content, no action' The term seemed to fit, so they used it.
